Well I TRIED hard, but have not managed to make a satisfying ring. Personally I have reverted to using a ruber "O"ring which give a positive lock and keep the lens in place, There are several sites on the internet which have some information about creating these rings, one of them belongs to Uwe in Germany click here for site

I have been facinated by the seemingly cult of Konica lens users which have appeared on the internet, apearently "they" modify otherwise perfect Konica lenses to work on the 4:3 system. cameras like the E-400 apearently being prized for its compact size.

The entire concept is based on the discovery that the lens mounting flange on the Konica lenses appearently fits perfectly into the Olympus 4:3 system cameras. only difference is that there is a gap of 1.25mm which people is filling a lot of ways. using materials such as cutting a ring in cardboard or winding a round of copper wire around the center of the tube between the lens and flange. All of these methods works well as the only requirement really is to fill the space of 1.25mm so that the lens will sit firmly on the camera.
Konica HEXANON lens modified to fit the Olympus 4:3 system, notice the yellow marks where the bayonet metal was removed and also the notch in the metal ring for locking the lens in place on the camera.

For the un-initiated the starting question is naturally "WHY". Why would anybody in their right mind both deface a perfectly good Konica lens, and secondly bother to mount this lens on their 4:3 system camera which already have outstanding lenses.?

The answer is simple "COMPACT QUALITY" the Hexanon lenses are very small and have high quality.

You can easily do this your self, start by purchasing a Konica lens from the internet, then follow the instructions on Morten Øen's website

For a more advanced project take a look at Jørgen Bergfoss' description of a complete conversion of the lens.

Another great description of the modification on Henriks blog

New Project - I have just recieved samples from the factory which makes a lot of little pieces for my company, and will be testing these rings for fit, once accepted we expect to offer a metal spacer ring for the Konica lenses fitted to a 4:3 body. The first test samples have arrived and I send one to Wolf in Canada, he modified the Konica lens shown above.

Konica lens with metal adaptor ring, note this metal ring is not required, you can simply loop a rubberband around the lens once you have removed the metal arm sticking out from the aperature slot, personally I think a black O-ring would also work great and Wolf suggest using a xacto knife to cut a similar ring from a piece of magnetic backing.

Olympus 4:3 system website - all pieces compatible with 4:3 will work on your Leica Digilux 3

Thoughts about the cousin the L1 by Andrzej Wrotniak, I have been a big fan of his since we started comunicating in the early days of the Olympus E-10 - He give you a good idea what this camera is all about.

Lens Adaptors - Stephen at Camera Quest sell very nice and clean adaptors for most major camera brand lenses, I purchased the one for Nikon and it works flawlessly.
